Most doctors are concerned about losing weight when the patient stops eating. Some also don’t understand dieting and want to give strict recommendations that can lead to a dramatic drop in weight.
If my doctor thinks that I should stop completely the next day and start again, will the body adapt and stop eating again?
If your doctor gives you some food to eat for 3 days, will this cause your body to be ready when the day comes to eat again? The only guaranteed weight change that happens is that your body adjusts to it. If you are eating more, you will make other, usually unhealthy food choices.
If I stop eating, should I avoid exercising?
There are many situations where there is no healthy behavior to be followed, so we suggest you do everything you can to continue engaging in healthy activities. If you are having a hard time eating normal food, don’t worry – you will just have to work hard to overcome your urges. This is where exercise comes in — if you want a healthier you and are doing anything you want to try, there is a gym nearby.
This is when we advise our patients not to force themselves to make healthy food choices. If you can, do it before and after you eat. Eat a healthy meal. Take in the fresh air and exercise in whatever way works best for you. Just don’t force it; the best thing to do is to use the time to work on other habits that will keep your blood sugar happy. Some simple steps include walking at least 10-15 minutes, drinking water (not soda), adding in fruits and vegetables and being more physically active.

We do not allow for changing your behavior as the patient, nor do we condone any weight loss plan that is not tailored to your goals.
Should I eat when I’m hungry?
Most patients think of eating when they’re hungry as eating to gain weight. This type of eating is called binge eating, and it’s not healthy. This eating pattern is not just unhealthy for you but will be unhealthy for the overall health of your body. We use the term “food addiction” to describe this type of eating that is driven by the craving of a larger or more appealing meal.
