The world of anime was rocked this month by the tragic death of a young American woman, whose death in her high school classroom has resulted in a growing number of questions about what we should and shouldn’t watch on television.
According to a report by the Associated Press, 18-year-old Aimee McCarthy was killed by one of her classmates, who she’d told police she’d been having a serious relationship with. McCarthy allegedly stabbed a friend in order to retaliate as she was being bullied for her sexuality.
On the subject of whether anyone knows how she died, the mother of a classmate told the AP: “We don’t have a lot of people to ask now.”
The report also noted that a young man has been charged with second-degree murder in the case, while a girl was arrested but has not yet entered a plea.
Despite that, the public will get to see more of The Karate Kid or The Karate Kid 2 in September at San Diego Comic-Con, which is set for November. This is part of it.
