How many hours a day do you actually get in to?
I would say most of the time, you may need to do at least two hours of music a day. My kids, who are now 3 and 4 years old, would only do two or three hours a day, depending, like I stated earlier, how often they do music lessons.
I’ll always say to my children, and my grandchildren as well, that you have music lessons, so many benefits will come naturally to you as you learn to listen to, and play music with your fingers and ears.
Now, I know, and the good news is that you can keep doing all of the learning, and keep doing it, in spite of being a mother, working with kids, and dealing with other challenges. But if you feel like you just can’t do it anymore, and you are not getting the benefits, you can give it another try, starting with the new music lesson plan I am sharing with you – or you can take a break from it at any point, whether it’s 3 months, 4 months to a year. The music lesson plan will help you with the more challenging parts in your child’s development.
Here is how I recommend the music lessons:
Choose one class that is appropriate for the age, ability, temperament of your child
Find a great teacher with patience, a willingness to hear what you say, and a strong knowledge of a particular instrument or style that your child can easily learn
Talk about the music and how it fits in the life of your children. The more words you say, the more interesting the music will be for them
Do a weekly lesson when your kids are young. It is important for kids to have music experiences by the time they are 2.5 to 3 years old. If you are trying to reduce the amount of time your child spends watching television, do music lessons as early as possible.
It’s important that you know that music is not for little people – not unless you love playing it. There are no “rules.” It is simply a wonderful way to listen to music with your children and build their musical skills. If they want to do the music more, so much the better.
