An 18-year-old boy suspected of killing a 19-year-old man early Saturday in Brooklyn was found in possession of “a knife and a small amount of marijuana,” sources said.
Police officials said the suspect, identified as Rysheed Mitchell, is still in hospital and his condition was stabilized at Bellevue Hospital on Sunday, adding that they were unaware of any connection between him and the suspect in this week’s slayings in Sunset Park and Greenpoint. An 18-year-old man was also shot and seriously wounded. An 18-year-old Brooklyn man also died in hospital.
“As a precautionary measure, officers carried out a warrant at an address. Officers arrested the alleged killer at the scene,” investigators said in a statement. “We have not determined if charges against the subject will be filed.
