I think it is hard for me. But it becomes progressively easier when you practice more and more. It just takes practice.
What does it feel like to have been adopted into the music community?
This is the most amazing thing about my story. I had to start playing piano just like the children, and my friends and I started playing in the club. I remember how people used to cry when we would play, because we were like the new kids.
How has your life changed since you started?
I have a really nice life. I have a lovely girlfriend right now, she’s great.
Did you miss being a child?
No I didn’t. I think growing up as a child is very important. Especially coming from Finland, where the kids know nothing.
I remember listening to the music of Chopin. It was so sad. I loved Chopin.
What music is your current favorite?
Piano. I play it often.
Have any musical influences?
I’m not very influenced by music and I don’t do that to be influenced by things – I think being influenced by music is really stupid. I like other kinds of music, but I don’t enjoy playing piano in the club very much. I like other people to play piano in the club but I don’t know how to play the piano the way they play it.
What about the world of music, can you relate to that?
I don’t know. I’m not very interested. I’m very interested in the work.
Your childhood in Finland…
I was a bad student from the beginning. For me, music was my hobby. I think that it was only after I had a partner and was working hard, that I was able to do better. Because I wanted my work to be more than just entertainment, I had to do well.
A few days ago we interviewed a German composer who’s working in a studio now in Copenhagen. He’s got a record out. How has that made you feel?
I’m very happy. I like all kinds of music. I’m really enjoying having a partner right now. If I don’t spend my weekends together, I’m not that happy. The work that I am doing right now, it’s the best for me.
