Probably not. I feel like it’s a pretty steep learning curve compared to how much programming/game development I’ve learned. You could try to build a skill base and keep improving it over time. In my case, I went from learning BASIC and playing with the Amiga to learning C/C++, then getting more experienced and trying out Swift. With programming, though, you have to have a lot more to learn than a musical instrument will offer. If you just want to play something fast that you can memorize (and do with an instrument that you can hold a tune to), I think I will stick to Swift at the end of 2017.
Cape Town – South Africa is facing an exodus of white professionals, according to the number of people leaving the country in search of work in the next 12 months.
The research by the country’s statistics office ABS in collaboration with the University of Mascarenhas shows there will be a net loss of white citizens this year, compared to a net gain in every previous year.
In the past year, more than 3 million South Africans have entered the job market in a bid to escape the effects of the worst economic crisis since the 1930s. This has led to an increase in the number of unemployed South Africans.
The majority of those leaving the country are in rural areas, where the cost of housing is low and the economy is growing steadily, said Peter de Lange, chief economist at Cairns & Co.
“The number of people living in metropolitan areas has actually doubled between the years 2005-2007 and 2009-2010 to about 4.6 million, with a similar increase in rural areas. This suggests that there is a considerable increase in people wanting to leave for rural regions and areas such as the Eastern Cape, Western Cape and the KwaZulu/Natal counties as a result of the economic climate,” said de Lange.
He said these figures suggest that in contrast to a large proportion of the South African labour market, there will be a relatively relatively small proportion of people seeking employment while on the job.
There is no data available to show by how much the South African labour market is dominated by South Africa’s white population, the largest ethnic group in the country. The only other population group in the country with a high rate of labour mobility is the indigenous and immigrant communities.
