Of course! But, in order to do this there is another requirement; you must possess a basic knowledge of the piano. Some people who already know the art can learn it at a younger age, while others have to start from the very beginning. You would need to learn and practice it to be able to play it well.
So you have learned to play the piano, what else do you need to do?
Most importantly, you need to practice! The more you practice, the more proficient you become. As a bonus you could even learn a nice, easy way to play the piano. However, this is not our primary approach to improving the piano’s fundamentals.
Our approach is to focus on the fundamentals. You can learn the piano by studying videos and memorizing notes, but your learning will not progress as fast as if you started from scratch. On the other hand, if you focus on one or two things, such as rhythm and technique, you could actually get a lot faster results.
So how should you start using music to improve the piano? We advise you to do two things: 1. Create a goal (a goal that you want to achieve) that is unique to your case. It may be a “to play the piano” project but a “to learn the piano” project, or a “to sing the piano” project, or a “to draw the piano” project. Set goals that will help you in your progress. 2. Take a random practice session – make a list of notes you want to hear in order to make sure you know and can play them well at that point in time. Then play those notes with great speed and effort.
The first part is pretty obvious! We always recommend practicing in the “real world” and seeing how quickly it improves. This way you get to see things that aren’t possible or even not possible in your “real life”.
Another way is to focus on the “goal” as you approach this (or if you’re on Facebook, you can find your “To Play the piano” project on “Stories” – we try to use all the Facebook features). You are then able to focus on developing your piano skills on that particular “goal”. As you progress, you will get stronger, so it is best to start now!
