There is no reason that digital editing shouldn’t be ethical: digital video editing should be as simple as possible, but not too easy.
I want my video to look good. Do you?
You have to believe that your video should look good. If you want to edit something in a way that just makes me want to tear my hair out, or if you want to put a little more focus on certain scenes, then digital video editing is the way to go. The only exceptions to my rule are:
a) Editing digital video of people who aren’t human. I’ll talk more about that later in the article.
b) Editing non-video content. It’s okay for me to put video into an article that is just content but I’ll never put a video directly into that article. I have no reason to edit content that isn’t for editing.
c) Video editing for advertising. I will never edit for an advertisement.
4 – Are there any advantages to digital over film?
There are many advantages, but I won’t go down the list. For example, when you need to make a video that’s too long, you can use the Time Lapse feature. When you need to make multiple times the same image, you can take advantage of the Photo Manipulation Tools. Using Photoshop’s effects you can make your images look amazing, however, you need to use that Photoshop for a couple reasons:
It has a huge learning curve. This doesn’t mean that you can’t use it once; it’s just a learning curve. It’s expensive. A $400 video editing subscription is expensive. If you want to use it on a regular basis you’ll need to pay for it and keep up with the service.
It’s not clear to me which is more valuable to me. Is it the ability to use the amazing tools provided in Photoshop or the ability to get professional images? In my mind, it comes down to which tool I don’t have. I can’t edit video or take photos in Photoshop. I would love to, and I’m working on it, but in the meantime, I do have all of my software.
All that being said, I think that there is definitely a learning curve, and the ability to purchase Photoshop is not enough. It’s about more than that as well. If you want to learn how to use Photoshop effectively, you’ve got to invest time in learning a lot of software. This isn
