Two people were hurt when they plunged through a window at a home, jumped from a second-floor window, then tried to climb through windows to escape from their third-floor apartment in the 600 block of South Washington in the West Englewood neighborhood about 6:25 p.m. on Tuesday, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 26-year-old victim was standing on North Washington, and the 27-year-old man walked past him with no apparent purpose, according to police. The victims started arguing and the man climbed a second-floor window to the second floor, the police said. He was holding a knife, the police said.
The 34-year-old man was standing on North Washington and the 29-year-old woman was standing on South Washington, police said. The men allegedly had no intentions of escaping from the apartment and were attempting to climb a window and escape it, police said.
After a short struggle, the two men made their way through a nearby window and jumped from a third-story window, police said. The 28-year-old victim was not injured, according to police.
The 28-year-old woman called police, police said. She later was taken to North Shore Hospital to be treated for stab wounds to her leg and her right foot, police said. She was released from the hospital Tuesday night.
